Pregnancy or Birth Announcement Idea

My son Daniel and his girlfriend Jennica have been living together for a couple of years and although they have talked about when they want to get married my son decided to make it official this year.
He is a hopeless romantic like his mother (me) so planned a dreamy romantic weekend by renting a lodge in a beautiful secluded area here in Ohio called Hocking Hills.  The weekend went wonderful and Jennica came home in a princess-dreamy-state all full of smiles, butterflies and happiness.

The wedding is set for March 2017, a date they have had set all along because St. Patrick’s Day 5 years ago was the date of their first date.

Fast forward to April and Jennica sets me down in a teary-eyed state letting me know she thinks she is expecting!
After a visit to the doctor’s, it was confirmed they got pregnant on St. Patrick’s Day.  How fitting.

After the initial shock, Daniel and Jennica decided to send out announcements to immediate family and their closest friends.

Daniel and Jennica went to college together, she for a music degree.  She is such a beautiful singer she brings tears to my eyes and over time we all started calling her “bird”.

Building the human size nest

Daniel (the father-to-be) with his weekend off-roading toy, out collecting sticks for the nest.
And yes, he does look very young, but he's actually 24 !

So to go along with her "bird" nickname, Daniel came up with the idea to build a giant nest for the announcement photos.  Daniel and Jennica, my husband and I, and Daniel’s sister Alexis all spent a weekend in Hocking Hills at our cabin collecting sticks and branches to build a human size nest.

We also went through the woods and collected wildflowers and ferns to add to the nest, And Alexis came up with the idea to add pink and blue ribbons which are in some of the photos too.

To set the baby color scheme for the photos, Jennica purchased pink and blue shirts for them to wear along with just plain white.
We wouldn't learn until later this summer if they're having a boy or girl.

And while at work, Daniel found a rock shaped just like a large egg so we used that in the photos too.

One of my favorite photos from that day

To go along with the bird and egg theme they decided to use the word “hatching” instead of “expecting” on the announcements.
The announcements turned out very unique, special, and absolutely wonderful!

Jennica and I went on the VistaPrint website and designed the announcements ourselves using a card template and adding the photos I took.

At the end of the day, we took a group photo, and my daughter Alexis was asked to be the baby's God Mother! All of us were filled with love and happiness.

The envelope has the return address printed on the back.  The front of the cards has photos.
The back of the card is with balloons and "Welcome Baby Lynch" and there's a white space on the front of the envelope for the mailing address.
